On April 4th at noon, the Department of Physical Education at Zhongyuan University of Technology held a student symposium on school sports work for the spring semester of 2023 via Tencent Meeting. Attendees included Wei Jian, Director of the Department of Physical Education; Zhu Jian, Director of the Competition Management Center; Ye Hui, Deputy Director; various club instructors; the head of the Student Union; and the heads of the Sports Departments from various student unions. The attendees engaged in discussions regarding the implementation of group activities and the National Student Physical Fitness Standards test for the spring semester of 2023

Director Wei Jian began the meeting by providing an in-depth interpretation of the Notice on Issuing the Management Measures for Student Mass Sports Activities Points in the Second-Level Colleges of Zhongyuan University of Technology”(中工学〔2023〕3号). He explained the definitions of college-level and school-level activities, the scoring criteria for various competitions, and urged colleges to report their activities to the Department of Physical Education prior to the events. He emphasized the importance of maintaining thorough records during the activities and submitting genuine and accurate reports at the end of the year, strictly prohibiting any falsification.

Director Wei Jian then mentioned that our university has been included as a pilot institution for the National Student Physical Fitness Standards Certificate System by Henan Province this year. He informed the students that the school has recently issued the Notice on Issuing the Implementation Plan for the National Student Physical Fitness Standards Certificate System (Trial) of Zhongyuan University of Technology” (中工教〔2023〕5号)and encouraged the students to study the document carefully. He also provided an explanation of the grading system for the physical fitness standards. Director Wei Jian stressed that this system is not only a shared requirement of the nation and the province, but also a new regulation at our university, urging students to treat it seriously and widely disseminate the information.

Director Wei Jian emphasized that all sports associations and clubs should clearly define their responsibilities, fully leverage existing resources, utilize their collective wisdom, broaden their perspectives, enhance communication and information sharing, and mobilize their limited staff to transform club activities into distinctive school-level events. In competitive activities, it is essential to purchase personal accident insurance. In traditional events like the Zhonggong Cup and the Welcome Cup, we should expand publicity and enhance their influence. In the sports cultural festival, we should expand the range of events and increase the content to ensure wider student participation. Director Wei Jian expressed his hope that through collaborative efforts from students, the Department of Physical Education, and the School’s Youth League Committee, we can elevate our school’s sports work, develop its unique characteristics, create highlights, and contribute to the development of school sports in the new era, adding luster to our university’s pursuit of renaming.
