Our University Successfully Completes Henan Province Higher Education Sports Assessment

On April 19th, a team of three experts from the Seventh Expert Group of the Physical Education Work On-site Evaluation of Henan Provincial Colleges and Universities visited our university for a field inspection and evaluation.


     The on-site report meeting and feedback meeting were held at Longhu Campus. Professor Wang Xiaomei, the leader of the expert group and former dean of the School of Physical Education at Xinyang Normal University, Professor Tian Shaoping, the deputy leader of the expert group, vice director of the Management Committee of the Longzihu Campus of Henan Agricultural University and former director of the Sports Department, Professor Xu Changyu, a member of the expert group and dean of the School of Physical Education at Zhoukou Vocational and Technical College, and Hai Ran, vice president of our university, attended the meeting. Representatives from the School League Committee, Personnel Department, Academic Affairs Office, Student Affairs Office, Finance Department, Logistics Service Center, Department of Physical Education, as well as some backbone teachers participated in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Hai Ran.

Professor Wang Xiaomei provided an explanation on the purpose and significance of the evaluation of university sports work, including the evaluation procedures, requirements, specific contents, and the division of labor among the expert group. Hai Ran welcomed the expert group on behalf of the school and introduced the school’s basic situation. Wei Jian reported on the overall situation of our school’s sports work in accordance with the evaluation indicator system.

At the feedback meeting, Wang Xiaomei, head of the expert group, highly praised our school’s sports work. After the on-site report, document review, on-site class observation, student discussions, and field inspections, it was concluded that our school could actively leverage the educational role of school sports, diligently implement the fundamental task of nurturing morality and talent, and achieve noteworthy achievements, distinctive features, and highlights in various aspects of sports work. Firstly, the school highly prioritizes school sports work, having established a sports committee chaired by the principal and formulated a committee charter. Secondly, it emphasizes the top-level design of school sports work, with relatively complete systems in place for sports management, physical education, group activities, and athletic training. Thirdly, with students as the center and sports curriculum ideological and moral education construction and informationization reform as the driving forces, the school actively promotes and achieves tangible results in sports curriculum reform. Fourthly, mass sports activities are diverse and vibrant, forming fitness and bodybuilding characteristic sports brands and three major campus sports culture brands: the school sports meet, the sports culture festival, and the mini marathon, along with a points management system for mass sports activities among students in secondary colleges. Fifthly, the implementation of the National Student Physical Health Standards testing work proceeds smoothly, with a trial implementation of a tiered certificate system, linking the test results to graduation and establishing a support plan for students with weaker physical fitness. Sixthly, athletic training work is relatively outstanding, acknowledging the conflict between academic and athletic pursuits and actively guiding students, resulting in notable achievements in recent years. Meanwhile, the expert group also put forward specific opinions and suggestions for our school’s sports work in terms of sports facilities, teaching staff, sports research, and professional development.

Hai Ran, on behalf of the school, expressed her gratitude to the expert team for their hard work and specific guidance. She believes that the expert team’s evaluation of our school is fair and objective, and the opinions and suggestions put forward by the expert team have very high guiding significance for the future improvement and upgrading of our school’s physical education work. Our school will take this evaluation of higher education physical education work as an opportunity, adhere to the principle of “promoting construction through evaluation, promoting reform through evaluation, combining evaluation and construction, and focusing on construction”, comprehensively strengthen and improve school physical education work. We will continue to uphold and carry forward the traditional and characteristic projects in our school’s physical education work. For the problems and shortcomings identified by the experts in our school’s physical education work, the school will accept them all and take immediate corrective measures for those that can be addressed immediately. For those that cannot be resolved in the short term, a rectification ledger will be formulated to gradually address them, continuously promoting the high-quality development of our school’s physical education work, and contributing the power of physical education to the high-level establishment of Henan University of Electronic Science and Technology.
