On the afternoon of May 4th, the Department of Physical Education’s Theoretical Study Center Group held a collective learning session in Room 309, Zhentai Building. The session was chaired by Zhao Hongliang, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the Department of Physical Education, and attended by all members of the Center Group.

Zhao Hongliang, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the Department of Physical Education, led the Center Group in an in-depth study of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech delivered during his inspection tour of Guangdong.

During his inspection tour, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the need to focus on the goals of national rejuvenation and national revitalization. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing high-quality development and building a new development paradigm. He urged Guangdong to continue leading the nation in areas such as comprehensively deepening reforms, expanding high-level opening up, enhancing scientific and technological self-reliance, building a modernized industrial system, and promoting coordinated development between urban and rural areas and across regions. He emphasized that Guangdong should strive to be at the forefront of advancing Chinese-style modernization. Achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance is crucial for constructing modernization with Chinese characteristics. The common prosperity of all people is the essential characteristic of modernization with Chinese characteristics, and coordinated regional development is a necessary requirement for achieving common prosperity. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area holds a significant strategic position within the new national development paradigm. He stressed that modernization with Chinese characteristics cannot take the path of prioritizing the virtual over the real. It must accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system based on the real economy.

Secretaryof the Department of the Physical Education, Zhao Hongliang led the Center Group in further studying the first chapter of Compendium of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The first chapter of the Compendium emphasizes that the Communist Party of China is the core leadership force of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Party leadership is comprehensive, systematic, and holistic. Upholding the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee is the supreme political principle, and the Party’s leadership system is the fundamental leadership system of our country.
