The Department of Physical Education held a departmental meeting on the afternoon of May 9th in Room 101, Zhentai Building, Longhu Campus. The meeting, chaired by Zhao Hongliang, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the Department of Physical Education, focused on outlining mid-term work arrangements.
At the meeting, Chen Ke, Director of the Physical Health Test Center, provided updates on the physical health test procedures and certificate system. He emphasized the importance of meticulous work from instructors responsible for administering tests and coordinating with academic departments, ensuring timely completion of the testing process.
Li Xuezai, Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education, reported on the mid-term teaching inspection. He underscored the importance of delivering high-quality physical education classes, emphasizing adherence to minimum standards. He also outlined requirements for the 2023 annual teaching competition, encouraging young instructors to actively participate and prepare early. Additionally, he clarified the process for retaking physical education courses. Regarding the training and competitions of university sports teams, Li emphasized the need for discipline, efficient training, and active participation to achieve strong results.
Director Wei Jian emphasized that while plans are important, successful implementation is key. He highlighted the need for continued effort in all areas, starting with physical health tests. Beginning with freshmen, students scoring below 50 points should be required to retake the test. He encouraged instructors to embrace innovative teaching approaches in physical education classes, drawing inspiration from Shen Yawen, the university-wide teaching competition winner last year. He stressed that maintaining high standards in teaching physical education is a core responsibility for all instructors. Regarding sports team training, Director Wei emphasized the need for accurate attendance records and scientifically structured training to ensure the team’s success and represent the university with distinction. He also reminded everyone that safety is always the top priority in group activities, suggesting the purchase of personal insurance for certain activities. Finally, he expressed his hope that everyone will actively engage in research efforts, striving to achieve the department’s research goals for the year.
Wang Ning, President of the Teachers’ Union, provided an update on the second session of the Ninth “Double-Representative Conference” of our university, along with recent Teachers’ Union activities. He also conducted safety training focused on flood prevention measures for 2023.
After the meeting, Zhao Hongliang, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Physical Education, delivered a special lecture to all party members titled “From the Centenary History of the Party to the Inevitability of the Chinese Communist Party’s Victory.”(Reporter: Zhang Zhenhua)
