On the morning of July 26th, Vice President Yang Kun visited the Department of Physical Education for a research on the development of our school's physical education teaching work, to further improve our school's holistic talent training system that emphasizes "Five Aspects of Education." Li Zongmin, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Deputy Director of the Educational Teaching Quality Evaluation Center, members of the Party and Administration leadership team of the Department of Physical Education, directors of various teaching and research offices, and the office director participated in the discussion. The discussion was chaired by Zhao Hongliang, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the Department of Physical Education.
At the symposium, Wei Jian reported on how to implement “moral education and physical education” in our school’s sports work, covering seven aspects: sports curriculum design, classroom teaching, curriculum construction, teaching management, teaching reform, the testing of the National Standards for Student Physical Fitness, and the problems and solutions in sports education and teaching. Participants had an in-depth discussion on issues such as the establishment and improvement of our school's sports curriculum, extracurricular physical exercise for students, the testing of the National Standards for Student Physical Fitness, and the construction of the sports teaching faculty.
Yang Kun emphasized that nurturing a new generation of capable young people with sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills who will fully develop socialism and carry forward the socialist cause is the historical mission of higher education teaching. Building a holistic talent training system that emphasizes “Five Aspects of Education” is of great significance to our school’s key tasks such as “name change, doctoral program application,” and review assessments. The Sports Department has achieved certain results in the early stages of sports classroom teaching, ideological and political construction of sports courses, and sports informatization reform. It is necessary to carefully summarize and sort out, refine experiences, identify problems, and continue to improve, to give full play to the unique role of sports in education, to cultivate morality, intelligence, aesthetics, and labor through physical education, and to further strengthen and improve the school’s sports work. This will inject new momentum into sports education and teaching, and promote the high-quality development of the school's sports cause. (Reporter:Zhang Zhenhua)
